Art: My Drawings

(2019)

Just wanted to note that this isn't a Marilyn Monroe dedicated post, even though she is a Queen😂. This is just the recent drawing that I have done and I wanted to share this post with you about my passion for drawing.

I've always been creative since being a child and I studied art at GCSE and A-Level and did an Art and Design Foundation course. I've also just finished an interior design short course, which was so fun, I highly recommend it. I will do a post about it soon!
I first started to draw portraits when I was 16 starting my A-Level art course and looking back to when I started, it used to cringe me out to be honest, because wow I thought they were so good. However, now I try and see them as wow you have come so far and it shows how you have improved, and still wanting to improve, which is how you should look at anything that you do. The first one I drew was of myself as a 5 year old in Australia and then I thought oh okay not bad, so I drew one of my mum and gave it to her as present and then it just snowballed from there.

Once I had done a few I started to do commissions for family and even an art collector, which has been my biggest achievement so far. I used to work in a gallery and one day in my lunch break I went to see the artist in residence and their work and when I was looking around, this man came up to me, who is a regular and we were just talking about the work. He then asked if I did any art and then I said yes I do portraits and showed him some from my phone that I had done. He was very impressed and then that's when he asked me to commission 2 portraits for him. I was so surprised and grateful and I'm glad to say he was pleased with the results.

Here are some drawings that I have done of celebrities. I managed to give the portrait of Aiden Turner (Poldark) to him, when I saw him in a play called 'the Lieutenant of Insishmore'; which by the way is such a fantastic play!

I have done some quick sketch work in the last year and a bit and I really enjoy challenging myself with this technique. I have only done it when visiting exhibitions, such as the Balenciaga: Shaping Fashion and Dior: Designer of Dreams exhibition, that was at the V&A in London. I further did some at the Modigliani exhibition, which was at the Tate Modern.
