Fresh Air Sculpture Show

Full of unique artistic sculptures, you won't want to miss the Fresh Air Sculpture Show. Set in the beautiful English countryside of Quenington, is a huge garden full of beautiful, vibrant flowers, a river, greenhouses, trees, an outside pool and sculptures scattered around the grounds intertwining themselves within nature.

Many materials are used to create these exquisite masterpieces, such as ceramics, glass, metal, mosaics, clay, wire and more. You can visit the Fresh Air Sculpture website to find out more about the artists and their work: http://www.freshairsculpture.com/meet-the-artists/. I viewed this and found some sculptures I had missed walking around. In a way you could call this show a treasure hunt, as some are so immersed in the grounds it's a nice surprise when walking around. In saying that this is a great place to take children, as it is fun, whilst also showing them a cultural, colourful experience and there are so many nooks and crannies for them to explore. For example, there was a Primary School trip happening whilst I was there and the children seemed to be having a great time exploring and viewing all of the artwork.

This exhibition takes place every other year. It's sort of a tradition for my mum and I to go every time it's on. We started going in the year 2013 and you would think that going after all these years the sculptures would be kind of similar in some way, but that isn't the case at all, there is always something new and unique each year. That's the great thing about this show is that anyone can apply, so if you're an artist get online and sign up for 2021! Artists will also have the advantage to sell their sculptures as well to the public if they wish.

The floral pictures above were one of my favourite parts of the exhibition, as I liked that they trailed around the side of this arched hallway amongst the real flowers. Furthermore, The patterned, patchwork quilt contrasted beautifully against the felt flowers creating this 3D effect of them jumping out at you.

These ghostly dance sculptures and the mosaic bird are a couple of my other favourite sculptures. I love how the artist has sculptured the dresses to show the movement and I like the combination of old floral china and gold to capture the aspect of the bird.

A few other favourites including intricate wired work, a silhouetted metal dog and willow work. I really like how those few lines of the metal dog contrast beautifully against the green and the willow work reminds me of something you'd see in one of Dr. Seuss's stories.

As this is a residents property they have a swimming pool and I remember one year when I went they had a sculpture under the water which was such a clever effect. Next to the swimming is a small outhouse full of small sculptures and jewellery which are available for purchase. There's also a small cafe in the main green area, where they sell cakes, quiches and salad. I highly recommend the vegan sausage roll so tasty😋.

Overall, it's a great place to explore unique pieces by a variety of artists and these are only a few pics of sculptures that I have shown you. The exhibition is only available until 7th July. It's open from 10am till 5pm everyday and there's a charge of £7.50 for adults and there's also a student rate of £5. Anyone 18 and under goes free.
