Decorative memo board

I recently bought this gold memo board from IKEA. I really wanted a main decorative piece in my room and this was perfect. I can't take credit for the flowers idea, as I saw it being displayed like this at IKEA, as you can see from the image below. It comes with 12 gold bulldog clips and at the bottom of the board are 4 hooks, so you can hang things, such as keys, ornaments, jewellery etc. One great thing about this board is that you can use it for different themes, for instance I saw a display of a wedding theme that had flowers, pictures and written notes attached to it. Another great thing about this board is that it is so light, so if you live in an old house like I do and are worried about how weak your walls are, don't worry because it most likely will not fall down. Additionally, you only need to hammer in two nails to put it up and that's it, SUPER simple! Lastly, this board only costs £12!

Below will be some simple instructions on how to go about decorating your memo board.

IKEA's version of the memo board

What you need:

  • Artificial flowers
  • IKEA memo board (includes bulldog clips)
  • Pictures or notes to clip on to
  • String
  • Wire cutters
  • Hammer
  • 2 nails

Instructions:

Step 1: First arrange on top of the board what you want to put on, but don't attach anything. Then take a photo so you remember where you have placed everything.

Step 2: Next, position your board on the wall and then start to hammer in your nails.

Step 3: After, cut your flowers with wire cutters to a size that best fits with you. Only use wire cutters if the green plastic stem has wire inside, if they don't just use scissors.

Step 4: Now grab your string and cut roughly 20cm. Then start to wrap the string with one end going left and the other end going right around the flower (s) and the board. See image below for better detail. Keep wrapping quite a few times until it looks thick, this will make it more secure.

Step 5: Once all of your flowers are secure, clip on your pictures and notes and then your done. Hope you enjoyed making your decorative memo board!
